PRESS RELEASE
JUNE 27, 2011
ENFIELD, CT
Please be advised that a presentation of the Thompsonville Transit Center Final Draft Conceptual Plan is scheduled for the July, 5th meeting of the Enfield Town Council. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m.
Background Information
The Town of Enfield is working on the development of the long awaited Thompsonville Transit Center. The Transit Center will be located at the intersection of Main and North River Streets in the Thompsonville section of Enfield and will provide both shuttle bus and commuter rail services when it is completed.
Prior to completion of construction plans for Phase I of the Transit Center, the Town hosted a series of meetings and a public forum to discuss potential concepts with residents. The forum was conducted as a “Design Charette”, a workshop format which encourages attendees to participate in the decision making process.
From those meetings, the Town’s design consultants have taken the information and formulated a Final Draft Conceptual Plan which would have been presented to the Enfield Town Council on March 21st, however due to funding changes at the State level, the plans were put on hold until more information could be obtained.
Today the Town’s Transit Center design consultants are ready to present their revised draft plans to the Enfield Town Council. After the presentation, residents will have up to 60 days to review the plans and provide comments.
The FTA is funding 80% of the projects cost for Phase I of this project.
For more information about the meetings or the project in general, please contact Peter Bryanton, Director of Community Development at 860-253-6391. Information is available online at www.enfield-ct.gov.
